More Information

In May this year Lostwithiel Town Forum received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to renovate street furniture on the medieval bridge, & to replace dilapidated signage with new interpretation signs at each end of the bridge. There is also a plan to install new picnic benches on the north side of the bridge accessed by new steps over the grass bank.

A key part of any Heritage Lottery Fund project is sharing the heritage with the community. To date we have involved the younger members of our community through the Derek Taylor Award at Lostwithiel school and running a short story competition at the annual produce show.

This exhibition was the turn of the older members of the community - the U3A. The group recreated some of the old photographs which showed the bridge around the turn of the 20th century, revealing fascinating changes in the natural and built environment since then. In addition the group have captured life on and around the bridge over recent months reminding us just what a central part the bridge plays in the life of our town.

“ Well set out and very informative for three generations of my family V.E.

“ A Good Display. This brings the bridge and surrounds back into general focus. Dave R.

“ Wonderful pictures of Lostwithiel. Good to see some good things don't have to change Sue S.
