A lovely ride of 20 miles - a great prelude to Christmas.Update 19th November 2017 Bike Ride Report – Wednesday 15th November Setting off from St Austell (Thank you B&M Store for allowing us to park) we cycled on Porthpean Road to Pentewan and on to Heligan, St Ewe, Gorran Churchtown, Portmellon, Mevagissey, Heligan Woods and back to Austell on the Pentewan Trail.  A good Ride of 22 miles with plenty of hills which I possibly played down on my initial ride info on which I stated some hills. Sorry Riders especially those not on ebikes. However it was a lovely ride with superb countryside and coastal scenery. Stopping at Portmellon for our lunch and where could be nicer? More pictures of Lostwithiel U3A Cycling Group available on flickr Update 19th October 2017 Report of Bike Ride Wednesday 18th October Nine riders met at the Crown Inn Lanlivery for a ride on muddy country lanes to Luxulyan and on towards Lockengate, under the A30 and into Bodmin along the trail parallel to the Bodmin Wenford Railway line. Through the industrial estate and into the woods adjacent to Lanhydrock which was our lunch stop. After lunch it was back to Lanlivery via Redmoor. A detour to the Cycle Shop at Lanydrock fixed the problem. ************** Update 22nd September 2017 Report of September Ride - The Old Cranks Ride Again This month 7 Riders being assured by the weather forecast that the rain would hold off until the afternoon, met at Lanivet and Cycled on back roads to Roche and on to Indian Queens. The forecast was clearly wrong as the rain came down at this the furthest point from our start. So taking shelter under the A30 Bridge we decided to visit Chapters Diner for a coffee and a dry seat. Unfortunately the rain continued as we pedaled past the Owl Sanctuary and on to Belowda village and back to Lanivet via the old coach road.  Our saddles may have been damp but our spirits in true U3A fashion were high! ****************** Update 25th August 2017 Old Cranks Bike Ride Wednesday 23rd August 2017 Unfortunately living up to the name of our group one of the old cranks on my bike suffered a catastrophic failure and came loose. Despite efforts from a BT worker and two really helpful guys from Lanhydrock Ground Control the fault could not be rectified so I had to leave the ride early and limp back to the car. The others continued to complete the ride and by the look on their faces at the lunch stop they were pleased to be rid of me!
