Page listing - "Subpage Listing" Diary Dates for October 2019-March 2020.  Tuesday October 29th A day trip to london to the Royal Academy to see the Antony Gormley exhibition followed by the Mall Galleries for 'The natural eye' if time allows. anyone who would like to come but use the time differently are very welcome, there are always so many exhibitions to see in london.  Wednesday November 13th To St Ives Tate for the exhibition of Otobong Nkanga's work. this looks surreal to me but speaks of 'the politics of the land and its relationship to the body.....' and then on after lunch to whatever else we find of interest, St Ives has so much to offer.  Friday November 29th To Penlee House in Penzance for 'Penzance Selects' an exhibition curated by local people who have been allowed into the stores to explore and find works that hold meaning for them.  Friday January 24th Our group get together for lunch, details yet to be arranged.  Wednesday February 19th To the Kurt Jackson Foundation Gallery at St Just for his latest exhibition, Frenchmans Creek, hopefully lunch in our favorite cafe, then perhaps something of interest on our way home if we can.  Our next planning meeting will be Monday March 9th at 2.30pm at The Royal Oak Diary Dates for June-October 2019 Monday 17th June St Ives for the Tate where an exhibition of work by Hugette Caland will be showing, we will also have the opportunity to find galleries not yet visited and to re-visit old favorites to see what they are showing this year. meet at the station for the 9.46am train. Friday 26th July Exeter for the Royal Albert museum and gallery for 'Birds without borders' a temporary exhibition with an intriguing title. we can also explore their permanent exhibits including work by women artists. meet at the station for the 8am train. Monday 20th or Thursday 23rd May To exeter Royal Albert museum and Gallery For their collection by women artists 1770-2011 and other exhibits that might appeal.We will travel by train from Liskeard on the 8.20am service as exeter can be difficult from Lostwithiel, lifts can be organised at a later date. two dates to choose from so that more can enjoy this trip. Friday 7th June Bovey Tracey for the Devon guild of Craftsmen contemporary craft festival. Travel by car so drivers and seat bookings needed and we leave lostwithiel at 9am. Monday 26th November To Falmouth by train, to Kimberly Park for the automated sculptures, then on down to the Gallery for their exhibition of this years illustration awards. To Krowji studios Redruth where many artists work. To enjoy their christmas opening and fabulous cafe, which is a unique work of art itself. Friday 6th July Dartmouth Academy are showing their students work at The Flavel, Flavel Place, Dartmouth. This lovely town also has some first class galleries to enjoy. Thursday 26th July Cowslip craft centre near Launceston to view an exhibition of quilts. 'it started with Baltimore, album quilts remembered and their development' The centre also has a cafe. Wednesday 5th September Penlee House Gallery in Penzance to see the work of the famous S J Lamorna Birch, who was one of the Lamorna group of painters. Sunday 16th September The Breeze art and Makers Fair at Trerife House near Penzance where workshops, talks and demonstrations are available. a one day ticket costs £10. Tuesday 24th April-Thursday 26th April London Galleries including Tate Britain for 'impressionists in London' and Bacon, Freud etc 'Painting Life'. Diary from October 2017 until January 2018 Saturday 21st October Penlee House in Penzance for an exhibition by John Armstrong entitled Dream and Reality. an interesting artist 'influenced by surrealism but not a surrealist' he was also a set and costume designer. Friday 3rd November Falmouth Gallery for two exhibitions 'outspoken' and 'alternative visions' showing a variety of artists from banksy to emin to new artists with disabilities. Falmouth. For ‘Artists Afloat’ at Falmouth Art Gallery, the works of Tuke and Hemy painted from the sea. With opportunities for coffee, lunch and browsing on the way. Travel by train so meet at Lostwithiel station for the 10.10am service.  Monday 22nd May and Wednesday 24th May. Delamore House, Devon for their deservedly popular annual exhibition. We have arranged this for two days so that everyone can make the visit. The garden can be soggy underfoot whatever the weather so good walking shoes are recommended. Meet in the car park at 9.30am.  Falmouth Tuesday 12th September ‘Liberation of Colour’ the Winifred Nicholson exhibition at Falmouth Gallery. Meet on the platform for the 10.10am train.  Chagford, Devon Monday 18th September To the Mythic Sculpture Garden. This is a woodland style garden so walking shoes might be useful. Then into Chagford itself for galleries and refreshments  there. We will also take the route across Dartmoor to enjoy the views. The Kurt Jackson Foundation Gallery. An exhibition of his work entitled 'Obsession, Following the surfer'. This is in St Just, west of Penzance. The work can be seen on his website and includes paintings, sculpture and ceramics. There are more galleries in St Just but as yet opening times are not known. A talk by Henrietta Boex about the falmouth art gallery, hosted by the ladies club, entrance £2. Pat Stern is our contact for this.  February 24th. The Cube Gallery Plymouth. An exhibition by Plymouth Society of Arts, including work by Melanie Guy (pewterwork etc.) and her husband (sculptural timberwork). A talk by John Halkes on 'the artists of the newlyn school' time and cost unknown at present, but this is a fundraiser for the bells. Pat Stern is our contact for this.  April 10th. Tate St Ives. An exhibition by Jessica Warboys entitled 'the studio and the sea' to include ceramics and paintings of landscape and the sea. of course St Ives always has much more to offer which we will take advantage of on the day. Travel by train with timings to be arranged later.  April 20th. Cothele House. An exhibition of local crafts entitled 'home from home' details are on their website. Cornwall open studios. This year the plan is to visit the Helston area which boasts a huge variety of artists.
