Please note - October's meeting date is 27th and will be in the Royal Oak August We had a short meeting in the mini-bus on the cliff top at the Minack to make arrangements for forthcoming events and welcome three new members, thus absorbing our waiting list. July meeting Another new venue - this month we were welcomed by The Royal Oak. We've now enjoyed most outings shown from previous meetings and so far blessed with dry weather for the outdoor venues. Additional are:- In July a free JAZZ night in Truro August venues all below Sept brings live streaming of Deep Blue Sea, Threepenny Opera at Wadebridge cinema. Proms at Mt Edgecumbe by Plymouth Symphony Orchestra plus firework display. October we are off to see The Entertainer (filmed live) at St Austell. November we've added Pride and Prejudice at HFC to Sarah McQuaid jazz and Red Shoes ballet already on the menu An original venue for our August meeting - on the cliff at Porthcurno!. MAY 19TH Members have enjoyed theatre and music in many different venues in recent weeks and more ideas flowed at our meeting. APRIL  MEETING We now have 34 members and 23 of them attended our last meeting - how lovely to know how popular performance arts are, and how rich a diversity we have in Cornwall (well, and Plymouth!). Though we've been reluctant to leave any u3a member out, maybe it's time to start a waiting list.......? 'Henning Wehn' and  'Mitch Benn' have been booked - both venues now full. Also 'Ronnie Scott Story' at HFC, and 'The James Plays' at TRP are unlikely to have more seats. Helen has reserved 15 seats for Matthew Bourne's première of 'RED SHOES' at TRP for the matinee 26th November, contact her at hl.mills@outlook.com if this appeals, (there's a lot of interest ).  Note that immediate payment is not required for this one. Jenny has booked 'The Shell Seekers' - St Austell Players - at the Arts Centre on May 10th, enquire at CRBO for seats. Ann has booked Spy Monkeys 'Shakespeare's Deaths' matinee 1st June, contact HFC. Judy has booked N T's filmed production of 'Romeo and Juliet' 7th July, book at St Austell cinema if you would like to join us. Annie offered to book a Choral Concert at St Endellion Church on 30th April ( annie.singer@talk21.com ) beautiful church, great acoustics. Carn to Cove's belated Spring leaflet was searched for local treats.  Annie is also arranging 'Cousin Jones' just down the road at Whitecross, a violin and guitar duo with vocals playing gypsy jazz and swing.  18th March 7pm. Further afield ( Grampound ) Ann (annh@mail.com ) is booking 'Albert Einstein:Relatively Speaking', Tangram Theatre's musical comedy lecture containing 'the wurst sausage joke ever'!  This on 24th April at 7.30pm. We now wait impatiently for Miracle Theatre's venue list as  'Life's a Dream' promises to delight us all. Helen will welcome you at the next meeting on 17th March, when you can bring your inspired ideas and settle any unpaid dues! January 2016 Meeting Ten members enjoyed refreshments as they collected tickets, reviewed recent visits and planned future trips - their enthusiasm never fails! We are going to see Head South, a Latin/Cuban Jazz quintet on 25th Feb evening, tickets £11 Also Car Man, Matthew Bourne's ballet, a modern take on Bizet's opera Carmen, no cigarette factory, it is set in a garage!This is a live recording at St Austell Cinema, 1st March 8pm. £8 or £10. When someone offers a car lift to venues we decided giving £2 towards petrol would be a good idea, and in line with other groups - if we go to Minnack, or Shaftesbury Ave we'll think again at the time! Our next meeting to plan future events is, as usual, the third Thursday of the month. 17th September 2015 at Lostwithiel Community Centre in the cafe at 10.30am.
